Details of the 2011 tour appear below. This years tour will be to Vietnam and Malaysia and will be from 17 to 29 September. All students and their partners are invited to participate in the tour. If you are interested, contact Grand Master Eng Chor Khor on 0412 922 618.
Day 1. Saturday, 17.09.11 Melbourne - Hanoi Depart Melbourne for Hanoi by MH 128 at 00:15 Hours, arrive KUL at 06:25 Hours Transit by MH 752 at 10:45 Hours and arrive Hanoi at 13:10 Hours. Meet your guide and transfer to hotel. The rest of the day is leisure. Check in at Garden Flower hotel. Overnight in Hanoi (D) Day 2. Sunday, 18.09.11 Hanoi – Hoa Lu – Hanoi Tai Chi before breakfast A 70 km drive through rural Northern Vietnam to the site of Vietnam’s first capital, Hoa Lu. After visiting the two remaining sanctuaries of the ancient citadel, take a sampan on a river through the rice paddies to the grottoes of the sacred Tam Coc Caves. Enormous limestone karsts just out from the green rice fields giving rise to this place’s other name, Halong on Land. Climb up to the Bich Dong Pagoda, which offers a scenic view of the surrounding countryside. (B.L, D) Day 3. Monday, 19.09.11 Hanoi Tai Chi before breakfast A full day city tour of Vietnam’s capital. Hanoi is a unique city with tree lined boulevards, French colonial architecture, peaceful lakes and oriental temples. The city tour includes such sights as Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and his house on stilts, the one Pillar Pagoda, the temple of literature, the Quanh Temple and the tran Quoc Pagoda on the edge of West lake. After lunch, free time for your visit to a school in Hanoi (if any). Dinner in town. Spend the night in Hanoi (B,L,D) Day 4. Tuesday, 20.09.11 Hanoi – Halong Bay Tai Chi before breakfast After breakfast, continue to the Museum of Ethnology and end the morning with a visit to the Lake of the Restored Sword and a cyclo tour of the Old Quarter. After lunch, transfer to Halong bay in the afternoon by coach. Overnight stay in Halong Bay Check in either Halong Pearl or Halong Dream Hotel (B, L, D) Day 5. Wednesday, 21.09.11 Halong Bay – Hanoi Tai Chi before breakfast After breakfast. A seven (7) Hours cruise tour. This will give you a chance to enjoy the breath-taking beauty of Halong Bay – the World’s Natural Wonder. Back in Hanoi in the afternoon. Enjoy Water Puppet Show after dinner. Overnight in Hanoi. (B, L, D) Day 6. Thursday, 22.09.11 Hanoi- Hoi An – Hue Tai Chi before breakfast Hoi An was a major Asian trading port in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and its architecture and relaxed lifestyle have changed little over the years. Take a walking tour of the ancient town centre to visit the former merchants’ homes, the 400 year olds Japanese Covered Bridge, a Chinese communal hall and the colourful market. Leave Hoi An after lunch for Hue, the former imperial capital of Vietnam. The scenic route passes through Danang before climbing over the Pass of Ocean Clouds and dropping down to the wonderful photogenic fishing village of Lang Co. Arrive in Hue late in the afternoon and transfer to Pilgrimage Village Hotel. (B, L, D) Day 7. Friday, 23.09.11 Hue Tai Chi before breakfast Visit the former imperial capital of Vietnam. A boat trip on the romantically named Perfume River visits Hue’s best known religious site, Thien Mu Pagoda, and the mausoleum of former emperor Minh Mang, in a tranquil setting of gardens and lakes. In the afternoon visit the elaborate mausoleums of Emperor Tuc Duc and Khai Dinh and the Imperial Citadel from where the Nguyen Dynasty ruled between 1802 and 1945. (B,L,D) Day 8, Saturday, 24.09.11 Hue – Ho Chi Minh City Tai Chi before breakfast Transfer to Hue Airport after breakfast for a short flight to dynamic Ho Chi Minh City, still called Saigon by many locals. A full day city tour takes in the city’s bustling Chinatown and begins with a visit to the Thien Hau Temple, from where you will take a cyclo ride; the most appropriate and unusual way to explore Cholon, literally meaning “big market”. The ride will take you to the lively Binh Tay Market. Then visit a lacquer ware factory to witness workers continuing a Vietnamese ancestral tradition. After lunch visit War Museum and the former Presidential Palace, from there on, you will go on foot (the car will be available at all times) to visit major sights of colonial Ho Chi Minh City: the Notre Dame Cathedral, Old Saigon Post Office, Dong Khoi Street (formerly Rue Catinat), Continental Hotel, Opera House and City Hall. After this historical visit, enjoy some wonderful ice cream at Fanny’s a quaint little parlour with a French atmosphere, before exploring the trendy boutiques on Ton That Thiep Street. Check in at Grand Hotel (B, L, D) Day 9. Sunday, 25. 09.11 Ho Chi Minh City – Mekong Delta – Ho Chi Minh City Tai Chi before breakfast Depart to Cai Be, deep in the Mekong Delta. Board the Cai Be boat and start the tour with the visit of the colourful Cai Be floating market. Follow with a visit of some local home factories that produce rice paste, rice pop corn and coconut candies. Cruise then to evergreen islands among the Mekong River through large networks of meandering rivers, crisscrossed with countless arroyos. Lunch at a fruit orchard then cruise to Vinh Long and discover beautiful landscapes along the river and observe the typical Mekong Delta rural life. (B, L, D) Day 10. Monday, 26.09.11 Ho Chi Minh City – Kuala Lumpur (KL), Malaysia - Malacca Tai Chi before breakfast At leisure for shopping until transfer to Tan Son Nhat Airport for Malaysia Pick up at KL airport. Check in at Rasa Hotel Resort at Malacca. Super at Malaccan Nonya traditional food court (B, D) Day 11. Tuesday, 27.09.Malacca City Tai Chi before breakfast Visit traditional Malay and Chinese streets in Malacca. Enjoy the local traditional market centre and food court. Have a delicious Malaccan Nonya lunch. Try the trishaw rides in Malacca. Free shopping time. Evening banquet at fabulous Malaccan Nonya restaurant. After dinner, see the cultural show and acrobatics. We are also invited to perform Tai Chi on the stage like in Estonia. So please be prepared. (B, D) Day 12. Wednesday, 28.09.11 Malacca - Kuala Lumpur Tai Chi before breakfast Free time in Malacca. Last opportunity shopping in Malaysia. After lunch transfer to Kuala Lumpur International airport (B,L) Day 13 Thursday, 29.09.11 Arrive Melbourne Please note: Availability for those who want to spent a few more days in Kuala Lumpur Cost: Four thousands five hundred dollars ($4,500) Requirement: For Australian passport holders and short visits, no visa required in Malaysia provided you have a valid returned ticket.
