Instructor Geoff Koh's Tai Chi class in Grindelwald, near the Tamar River in Tasmania, is going strong. He is hoping that the warmth of Spring will bring new students as his current lot is advancing to Level 3. In a month's time his B&B business will be in full swing welcoming travellers heading off to Tasmania.
Celestial Tasmania had a modest start on 3rd June with six students (five ladies & one gentleman) at Tresca, a quaint 100-year-old community centre. This federation building sits within 2 acres of rolling lush lawn in a rural town of Exeter. Exeter lies on the Tamar River, a short drive from Launceston. The second class kicked off four weeks later with another four students.
Recently, we held our first park lesson by a riverbank and everyone turned up which was very heartening to feel the enthusiasm on frosty winter's day.
Our inaugural students have now graduated to level two and everyone is anticipating the arrival of the warmer weather, as this will allow our classes to be held outside on the lovely lawns. We warmly welcome our fellow Victorians to visit and practice with us if you are in Launceston. Our classes are held on Tuesday (1pm-level 2) and Wednesday (10am-level 1). The ladies might bring you home and feed you ...if you're real nice!
Editor’s note: In addition to operating the Tai Chi centre, Geoff Koh and his wife Sue have also established a B&B at Grindelwald, just 5 minutes drive from Exeter, close to the banks of the river. Should anyone like to visit this superb location in Tasmania and be hosted by Geoff, he can be contacted by phone 6330 1234 or email
